Registration Renewal

Registration renewal is completed through your online registrant account and access to the registration renewal process for the upcoming registration year will be made available to registrants in mid-October.  Registrants will be alerted to the beginning of registration renewal through an e-blast.  You will also see a “Renew Registration” button appear on the main page of your account.

QUESTION: What if I want to change to a different class of registration for the upcoming year or I don’t plan to continue my registration at all?

Please see Changes to Registration Class  for information about your options and instructions.

Renewal Requirements:

College bylaws for registration renewal require a registrant to complete all of the following:

  1. Submit a completed application for renewal – this is an online form that will be accessible directly through your online registrant account when ‘renewal season’ begins and will be accessed by clicking on the “Renew Registration” button that will appear in your online account.
  2. Pay the annual registration fee applicable to your current class of registration (fees are established in Schedule C of the Bylaws – see fee items 4-9).
An invoice for your annual registration fee will only appear in your account AFTER you have completed Step 1.  You will be taken directly to the invoice following submission of the form.
  3. Pay any other outstanding monies owed to the College – this may include any assessed late fee, fee for late payment of annual registration fee, special fee or assessment, or a debt owed to the College (eg. fines and costs assessed through the complaints and discipline processes).
Any unpaid invoices will be found under “Active Invoices” in your online account.
  4. Attest to compliance with CVBC regulations and any limits/conditions on your license.  Note: this requirement of the bylaws is accomplished within the application mentioned in step 1.
  5. Provide proof of compliance with their CE requirements.  For information about CE requirements and CE reporting, see Continuing Education

Registration Renewal Deadlines:

Registration renewal for the coming year is to be completed on or before November 30th of the current year.

Consequences of missed deadlines:

  • If the CVBC has not received payment of the annual registration fee for the upcoming year on or before November 30th of the current year, a late fee (= 10% of the applicable annual registration fee) will be assessed.
  • After November 30th and up until the end of the first business day in January: you may still complete any outstanding requirements for your registration renewal (including payment of the 10% late fee if your registration fee payment was not received by November 30th
  • AFTER the first business day in Januarythe Registrar is required by the CVBC Bylaws to CANCEL the registration of any registrant who hasn’t completed ALL requirements for registration renewal. Cancellation will be effective January 1st.

IMPORTANT: Pay close attention to your email Inbox between October and January to ensure you don’t miss any important reminders or notifications regarding your registration renewal. If you suspect you may be missing notifications, ensure they aren’t being filtered to your Spam/Junk folders or ‘blocked’ entirely by your email server.

QUESTION: What do I do if my registration is cancelled??

There are a few possible pathways back to registration established within the bylaws after cancellation for failing to renew. The applicable pathway will depend upon why your registration was cancelled and possibly also how much time has passed since the cancellation was in effect.

For a breakdown of the options depending upon your situation, see Cancellation and Pathways Back to Registration.

The above requirements and deadlines are established in the CVBC Bylaws [Part 1 – Governance, section 1.82 (Failure to pay annual registration fee); and Part 2 – Registration, section 2.27 (Registration renewal) and section 2.28 (Reinstatement following non-payment of fees)] and must be enforced without discretion by the Registrar.
