CVBC Committees

CALL FOR COMMITTEE VOLUNTEER APPLICATIONS

Your College and your colleagues are inviting you and interested members of the public to submit your application (Committee Application Form) for the following CVBC Committees: 

Investigation Committee  – 2 members

Discipline Committee – 3 members

Registration Committee  – 1+ members

Practice Facilities Accreditation Committee  – 3 members

These positions are available at the end of June 2020.

 To have your application reviewed by your Council at its next meeting (May 29th), they ask that you submit your application to the office by May 15th.  The next opportunity for Council to review applications would be the July 17th Council Meeting.

The CVBC has several Committees, each made up of hardworking volunteer members who form an integral part of the operations of the College. If you are interested in being assigned to a CVBC Committee, please fill out this Committee Application Form and submit it, along with all requested supporting documents to the office.

Continuing Competence Committee

Role: To design, administer, and enforce the Continuing Competence Program and to develop and implement a process for assessing registrant competence.

Members: Dr. Sergije Prostran (Chair), Dr. Emma Turner, Dr. Lisa Yee, Dr. Nick Kleider, Mr. Christopher Finding (public member), Dr. Theresa Burns and Dr. Laura Sitter.

Investigation Committee

Seeking at least 1-2 new registrant members and 1-2 new public members
Role: To accept, investigate, and resolve or otherwise dispose of complaints. Members: Dr. Cathy Wilkie (Chair), Dr. Clare Tompkins, Dr. Geoff Gaunt, Dr. Joanne Weetman, Mr. Gian Sihota (public member), Dr. John Bratty, Dr. Saman Moaveni, Dr. Parmjit Dhillon and Dr. Janet MacLean.

Discipline Committee

Seeking at least 2 new registrant members; new public members interest is welcome (legal background is preferred)

Role: To consider citations authorized by the Investigation Committee. Members: Dr. Al Runnells (Chair), Dr. Alan Hoey, Dr. Carsten Bandt, Dr. Dalwinder Toor, Dr. Ian Welch, Dr. Paul Kennedy, Mr. Herman Van Ommen, Q.C. (public member),  Mr. Keith Bracken (public member), Dr. Ruth Kennedy and Dr. Tatjana Mirkovic.

Registration Committee

Seeking 1 new public member and would welcome new registrant interest to bolster the present committee membership
Role: To consider applications for registration referred by the Registrar and to oversee the Bylaw and Ethics Exam process. Members: Dr. Carsten Bandt (Chair), Dr. Denise Phipps, Ms. Jean Whittow, Q.C. (public member), Dr. Ricardo Bonafine, Dr. Trevor Reeves, Dr. Doris Leung and Dr. Tejpaul Bhatia.

Practice Facility Accreditation Committee

Seeking 1-3 new registrant members; additional public member interest is welcome
Role: To review Practice Facility Inspection Reports and authorize accreditation and re-accreditation of facilities as well as provide direction as to other matters that may come up related to the regulation of practice facilities. Members: Dr. Trevor Reeves (Chair), Dr. Ian Welch, Ms. Kim Holbrow (public member), Dr. Kuldeip Sekhon, Dr. Parmjit Dhillon, Dr. Josh Waddington and Dr. Megan Broschak.
