The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) has advised the CVBC on April 05, 2016 that if a member of the public finds a tick on their animal and  is concerned, they should take the animal to their veterinarian.

The veterinarian can submit the tick to the BCCDC lab for identification and testing for Lyme disease, if appropriate for the tick-type.

The veterinarian must contact the lab for the requisition (604-707-2629), and there is a fee for this service.
