Employment Position: Deputy Registrar (In-house)

The College of Veterinarians of British Columbia (CVBC) regulates the practice of veterinary medicine in BC to ensure that the public and animals are protected and served by professionals engaged in a competent and ethical standard of practice.


The CVBC is seeking an in-house Deputy Registrar, who will work with senior management and Council to support CVBC programs such as Registration, Complaint Investigations, Practice Facilities Accreditation, and Continuing Competence. Based in the CVBC’s Richmond office, this is a full time position designed to meet the needs of the CVBC, the Council and its Committees, as well as assuming the Registrar’s duties in her absence.

Current or recent active full registration with the CVBC is preferred. The successful candidate will also possess the following:

  • Willingness to embrace the CVBC’s regulatory focus and public protection mandate
  • Good standing in BC and all previous jurisdictions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills including the Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment with multiple stakeholders
  • Familiarity with the Veterinarians Act, CVBC Bylaws and policies, and related legislation
  • Understanding of administrative law concepts and current veterinary practice standards
  • Availability for occasional weekend and evening travel, scheduled meetings and unanticipated urgent matters
