Provisional/Limited Practice Facility Accreditation

Surrey Animal Hospital has been granted provisional and limited accreditation pursuant to Bylaw s. 3.14 and 3.16 and subject to compliance with the following limitations:

  • Dr. Harpreet Dhaliwal will serve as designated registrant;
  • Any change in designated registrant must be pre-approved and appointed by the Practice Facilities Accreditation Committee;
  • Facility hours of operation will be restricted to no more than 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., seven days a week; at least one registered veterinarian must be on site for a minimum of 80% of total open hours, each day;
  • Must conduct weekly controlled drug reconciliations and provide logs to the College upon request;
  • Participate in a post-opening inspection approximately 30 days after opening;
  • All medical records will be contemporaneously prepared and maintained electronically, with appropriate, signed client consent forms present;
  • Requests for record transfers to other clinics will be honoured in a timely fashion, determined by the urgency and gravity of the patient’s condition at the time of the request;
  • All patient diagnoses will be made by a veterinarian and treatment will be either administered or supervised by a veterinarian in accordance with Division 4.7 of Part 4 of the Bylaws; and
  • Provisional accreditation may be revoked by the Committee pursuant to s. 3.16 if periodic inspections over the next 12-month period indicate non-compliance with an above limitation.

Grand Forks Central Veterinary Services has the following limitations pursuant to Bylaw s. 3.14 and 3.16:

  • Provisional accreditation to provide veterinary services from Unit A-8120 Donaldson Drive, Grand Forks, BC V0H 1H2 for a period of 90 days (to expire August 14, 2018)
  • Veterinary services are limited to the standard outpatient services, not to include overnight hospitalization, surgery or radiology

Whistler Veterinary Clinic has the following limitations pursuant to Bylaw s. 3.14 and 3.16:

  • Provisional approval to practice as a mobile practice without public office pending inspection and re-accreditation
  • Veterinary services restricted to consultations, euthanasia, minimal diagnostics until accreditation status is re-assessed
  • Practice Inspection must occur before June 27, 2018

Unlicensed

No longer licensed to practice veterinary medicine in BC, but may still use the title "Dr." and academic designation (e.g. DVM).


Restrictions/Suspensions

A restriction or suspension may be imposed by the Investigation Committee or the Discipline Committee in order to protect the public interest.


Hearings

Following the issuance of a citation, a hearing will take place before the Discipline Committee. All discipline hearings are open to the public. Notice of hearings will be published here in advance of the hearing.
 
 

Consent Orders

Once a citation has been issued, a registrant may provide a written proposal to either the Investigation Committee if the discipline hearing has not yet begun, or to the Discipline Committee if the hearing has begun in order to resolve the matter. Notification of a consent order must be made pursuant to s. 68(1)(d) of the Veterinarians Act


Consent Resolutions

Following resolutions reached with the Investigation Committee, notification of Reprimands or Remedial Actions by Consent must be published pursuant to s. 68(1)(c) of the Veterinarians Act.
